Update: half way through

Hello :)

Here I am now half way through my travels along the East Coast!
I am currently in Brisbane and I have decided to update my Blog already.
I left Melbourne 10 days ago but it seems a lot longer.
Anyway. My bus trip to Sydney wasn`t as bad as I thought it would be.
19 hours in a bus is a long time but luckily the bus wasn`t full so I had two seats to
myself and I was able to get a little bit of sleep!
Thursday at about lunch time we arrived in Sydney and in the bus I have met another backpacker
who showed me a good and not too expensive hostel.
I had a room with 5 other people and we had a bathroom for sharing
which was all clean and not too bad.
After I put my backpack down I went off to explore Sydney!
The weather was a bit like in Melbourne or maybe even worse! On and off rain all the time.
BUT as soon as I got to the Sydney Opera House I was just amazed!
It seemed so unreal because it was so cool to see the Opera House finally in real.
I don`t know..I can`t really describe that feeling I had but it was awesome. :)
I walked around the whole day and I have met someone from Germany with who I spent the rest of the day and we wanted to meet each other the next day again.
Exhausted and really tired I had a good sleep the first night.
The next day when I was on my way to meet the guy from the day before I basically
walked into somebody I` ve been in school with and we swam together at some point too.
It was really funny because I didn`t even know that he was in Australia.
So we spent our day together with the guy from the day before.
We walked across the Harbour Bridge, trough the Luna Park and we had a look at the
 North Olympic Pool.
In the evening I went out with a friend, who is Aupair in Sydney and one of his friends.
We really had a good night which ended early in the morning.
Unfortunately I needed to check out 4 hours after I just got home..
I had a two hour nap and then I got up to have a look at Sydney's famous Bondi Beach.
I have to say I was a bit disappointed..the only cool thing were the Ocean Pools!
But I have to say I wasn`t motivated at all either to go into these pools or to walk along the beaches..
damn hangover..! :D

In the evening I took the next Bus to go to Byron Bay! Another overnight trip
which wasn`t too bad either. Maybe because I was just tired and I just wanted to sleep, which I did!
Byron Bay was amazing!! I really liked this little town even though there isn`t much to do!
I spent my first day at the beach and up at the lighthouse which is a really nice walk and
the view is just beautiful!!
I can`t wait to show mum all these amazing places and I am really looking forward to go there again!!
My hostel was a really nice one! A bit further from the beach but still just 5 minutes walk, very quite, really nice people and it was just nice!
On my second day I have booked myself in for my FIRST SURFING LESSON!! :))
I was soooo excited and it was sooo much fun!!
We were just two people which was good! It was pretty much a private lesson!
Good looking teacher and the weather wasn`t too bad either.
After my third try I SURFED!!! I really did! I stood up and I surfed down to the beach!
My teacher was really impressed and he said: "You surfed this wave for days!!"
I was so proud of myself and doesn`t matter how it looked, I SURFED! :D

Walk along the beaches

My next stop was Surfers Paradise which was a bit disappointing.
I can`t even tell why, but I didn`t really liked it so I bought myself the Theme Park Pass
and went to three Theme Parks in two days.
Movie World, Sea World and Wet and Wild!
Wet and Wild was definitely the best one and I would do it again any time!
Actuallt Surfers Paradise isn`t beautiful at all. I mean it looks pretty cool with all these
high buildings on a picture but when you are there it is just annoying.
The beach is really windy and and it gets cold in the afternoon because the sun disappears
behind all these buildings. Anyway, I had fun at the Theme Parks!

Since yesterday I am in Brisbane and I am already leaving tomorrow.
The reason, because I don`t really like this city.
When I arrived yesterday and walked to my hostel and I was stressed straight away and
I had a massive headache.
It is just too crowded and really overwhelming and it is really loud here.
But still I have done some sightseeing and I have found a few nice spots.
I took the free ferry across the river which was nice and in South Bank there
are a few quite places which I liked too.

Brisbane Skyline, taken from the ferry
City Lagoon
Story Bridge
Botanical Garden

But still, tomorrow I am heading off to Noosa and then further up north!
I am getting closer to my sailing trip, and it is getting warmer: FINALLY
and of course to mums arrival!!

See you next time,
Lena :)
